When October comes around each year, I notice fall. The weather here in Austin is a lot different from Dallas, it’s still way too hot. Waiting for fall weather is frustrating. I want to bust out my warm clothes and boots. But anyhow, I see all the fall colors everywhere, the peachy season, yum, and pumpkins. Every year the pumpkins remind me of one specific thing, my sister. Her birthday is this month. Funny enough, her husband’s birthday is the day after hers. This year, being the first year I have lived in the same city as her in ten years, we get to celebrate together! EEK! Birthday dinner with the girls, still don’t know what I’ll wear, and she will open her gifts. I’m more excited about that though. Some people said I spoil her. It’s true. She’s my sister and my love. Spoiling is inevitable. But if anyone deserves to be spoiled, it’s her.

First she noticed a bracelet I had made a while back. I bought the stuff I needed to make it even better and made her the first real one. Of course, it’s mustard yellow and green.

I love going into Anthropologie, even if their clothes are over priced and always tear, leaving me to sew them again. They were having a sweet sale, bought me a top and saw this shirt for Lauren. She has a thing for beetles, she’s a scientist. Enough said.

Then I started on her blanket. I plan on selling these in custom colors very soon, but she gets one for just being born. Plus, she’s the only person I know that will wear a sweater in ninety degree weather because she’s cold…. It’s a great warm blanket with some crazy soft fleece on the back.

I made some more button flowers the other night while watching the Rangers in the World Series (believe me, not a sports kind of gal, hence the craft making to cure boredom). I had a great idea to make a canvas covered in fabric. I wanted to do the same kind of pattern of stripes on other fabric. I have a new theme going here. I sewed it all together and sewed the flowers on top, then adhered the fabric to the canvas. It’s so stinking cute if I do say so myself.
Then her card was last. I wanted to make two little paper dolls, her and me, holding hands, but the paper dolls were just not turning out right enough. So I was running out of time and just settled for writing on a Blythe postcard. Still cute, but not the coolest.
Happy Birthday my beautiful sister. I love you more than sleep. xoxo
